Fleet Tracking Demo
Video Transcription: Welcome to the Geomoto demo. We're going to run through some of the base features in our fleet tracking software.
It starts with our overview page. This page is split up into two main section. On the right side we have a map which shows the location of all our devices. This map may look familiar; it's actually a Google Map and we can interact with it the exact same way. We can click and drag, or we can double click to view more detail. We can also look at the map in a satellite view, which utilizes satellite imagery, or a hybrid view to have street locations and names layered on top of that. On the left hand side of the screen we have our deice summary which shows us all of the devices associated with our account. We can access a device's details simply by clicking on its marker on the map, or we can see it's last location, the last status, and the last location in the summary.
If we go into the reports and select a device, we have the ability to see each of the reports that the devices in our fleet vehicles made throughout the day. This is our master report. If we want to look at trips, we just click on the trips report. We'll see the different trips made throughout the day, noted by starts (in green) and stops (in red.) If want to to look at the details of each trip - when it started, how long it took, what the different stops were - we just click on the details link. On this page we have our trips report with more detailed data, and easily change the report by selecting a new device in the top left.
The next report is the stops report, where we can see the time that stop has occurred or the engine has been turned off for any significant period of time. This allows us to review our planned and unplanned stops throughout the day. As a business owner, I use this to support billing, to optimize my jobs and contracts, and to add accountability for my drivers. An unplanned stop is easy to support and investigate within the context of the day's activities. Simply by clicking on the name, looking at the duration, and determining, "Is that something that should have happened or not?"
In the idling report, we have the ability to see whenever a vehicle was stopped but left running. We have the ability to see if we're wasting gas. One of my favorites for owners: in the South it gets hot, sometimes the employees will pull over on the side of the road, crank the A/C, and zonk out for a few minutes; take a nap... I definitely want to keep my drivers away from doing that sort of thing so we have the ability to see if any unplanned idling is going on.
Our next report is the geofence report. We create a geofence notification to monitor a vehicle's activity within a specific area. I receive a notification if my vehicles leave a zone unexpectedly or enter an area that they shouldn't be in. Geofences are easy to set up and customize and are created at the device level. All we do is select a device, and select to add a geofence. We can call that whatever we want. Let's use "Geomoto geofence." Then we can choose a start address. This can be a specific address or a city. I'll choose Fort Worth, my hometown, and start with a radius. If we start with a radius of 0.1 miles, we can easily see that's not big enough for what we need. Maybe I just want the city of Fort Worth, we can do a 10 mile radius. If I want to set a bigger area, let's say the metroplex because that's where my vehicles will be, I can set a radius of 100 miles.
As an owner or fleet manager, I also have the ability to group my vehicles. If I want to look at my sales vehicles differently than my services vehicles I can create a group called sales. Let's give that a red blip and select the vehicles that should be in that group. If I create that group, these vehicles will show up in each report as a red blip now.
As a finale, let's go to my favorite report which gives an overview of all my devices at any given time. We go back to the overview page. Then all we do is expand our map and now it takes up the whole page. I like the satellite view. I can watch each of my vehicles in real-time. If I have an additional screen for my computer or a TV, I can keep this on and have complete access to everything I need to know about my fleet at any given time.
